The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940
The Musical Comedy Murders of 1940 is a fast-paced comedy farce by John Bishop that affectionately pokes fun at classic murder mysteries and the world of Broadway theatre.
Set in a remote mansion during a snowstorm, a group of actors, producers, and creative personalities gather to audition a new musical. The show is being developed by the same team behind a recent Broadway flop whose backers and several chorus girls were mysteriously murdered by the infamous “Stage Door Slasher.” When the group becomes snowbound, strange events begin to unfold, secret passageways are discovered, and another killer may be lurking among them. As the body count rises, the eccentric guests scramble to uncover the murderer before becoming the next victim.
Filled with mistaken identities, hidden rooms, witty dialogue, physical comedy, and unexpected twists, this entertaining whodunit blends suspense with laugh-out-loud humor, making it a favorite for community theatres, schools, and audiences who enjoy classic murder mysteries with a comedic twist.
