Ms. Orr holds a Bachelor of Science in Education from the University of Georgia and Master of Fine Arts in Dance from the University of North Carolina. She trained at the Augusta Ballet, Atlanta Ballet, American Dance Festival/Duke University, Martha Graham School of Contemporary Dance, The Cunningham School and American Ballet Theatre. Her performing career with Augusta Ballet, Ruth Mitchell Dance Theatre, Festival Ballet and Southern Ballet Theatre included dancing the classics and a variety of contemporary works. Touring with up to 100 shows each year she directed, choreographed, and performed dance programs for Young Audiences of Atlanta.

Ms. Orr has been commissioned to choreograph for dance companies throughout the United States, the 1996 Olympic Torch arrival in Atlanta and Regional Dance America’s National Festival in Pittsburgh 2007. She has choreographed over 50 repertory works and full length story ballets and several regional musical theater productions. For over two decades, Ms. Orr has taught dance for all ages in a variety of settings including public and private schools, preschools, universities, private studios, and senior centers while developing graded curriculum in ballet, modern and creative movement. Ms. Orr has been teaching the dancers of LSPA since she and her husband Matt moved to LaGrange in 1997. At the same time, she continued to dance professionally and serve on the faculty of Atlanta Ballet while beginning a creative movement and student teacher program in LaGrange. Ms. Orr was Co-Artistic Director and Choreographer in Residence of Southern Ballet Theatre before accepting the position of Artistic Director of Lafayette Ballet Company in 2010.
