Raised in Valdosta, Georgia, Kylie Mathis has always prided herself on being a public servant and has held the steadfast belief in serving others. While studying at Valdosta State University, she worked to educate the public on social issues told through film. For this work in bringing awareness to the program and establishing the first Women and Gender Studies club on campus, Kylie was awarded the Outstanding Student of the Year in Women and Gender Studies in April 2019. During the summer of 2019, she interned at the House of Representatives in Washington, D.C., for Congresswoman Dina Titus. Upon her return to Georgia, Kylie was inducted into the Alpha Kappa Delta International Sociology Honor Society and graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology in the fall of 2019.

In 2020, she received her Master of Science in Sociology, and served as a Graduate Senator for the Student Government Association (SGA), holding the title of Vice President of the Association of Graduate Students. While pursuing her master’s degree, she continued to work within the State of Georgia, the City of Valdosta, Lowndes County, and the Valdosta State University campus to encourage voter engagement, grassroots organizing, policy development, and legal advocacy for several nonprofit organizations and citizens. Additionally, Kylie began her nonprofit career with The Campaign to Keep Guns Off Campus as a program coordinator, where she managed communications, designed graphics and handled event coordination.

Kylie was brought to the Troup County area to work for the Boy Scouts of America, Chattahoochee Council as a District Executive in December 2020. During her Scouting journey, she served scouts in Harris, Troup, and Meriwether Counties, as well as the cities of West Point, Georgia, and Valley, Alabama. She worked with over 200 volunteers to provide the best Scouting experience to children in these communities. Furthermore, Kylie raised nearly $150,000 for her communities through fundraising efforts and eagerly worked on new recruitment strategies with her volunteers. In addition to development, she was also responsible for marketing for the area.

Growing up in a musical family, Kylie has always gravitated to the arts, specifically drawing and painting. Art has always been a passion of hers and she is glad that she can be surrounded by it constantly by working at the LSPA. In her free time, she enjoys playing video games with her fiancée, Daniel, playing roller derby with the Muscogee Roller Girls (MRG), and being a proud parent to three fur babies, Scout, Darcy, and Billy Joe.
