Lafayette Center for Dance / Lafayette Ballet Company Update and Registration 2016-2017

Hello All,
Hope you are having a wonderful summer break!  We’ve had a great summer at LCD!  As you know, LSPA’s building is currently being renovated, and we are excited to move back into our updated building with higher studio ceilings, new sprung wooden studio floors, refurbished lobby and hallway areas, and many updates that make our building safer, more energy efficient, and maintainable.  We had a terrific Dancing Fairytales Camp with 46 young dancers, and we’ve had numerous dancers taking our Maintenance Classes on Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Our Junior and Senior Company dancers, along with Miss Amy and three parent chaperones, traveled to New York City in early June.  While there, they were able to take classes, see Broadway shows, and American Ballet Theatre.  Our group even had backstage and personal time with dancers at ABT and An American in Paris.

LCD Faculty 2016-2017
Beginning this summer, LCD faculty members Ragan Herdener and Whitney Humphries will be assuming the roles of Assistant Directors with the Lafayette Center for Dance/Lafayette Ballet Company.  In addition to teaching, they will be coordinating all aspects of registration, studio organization, recital preparation, teacher coordination, and studio-parent communication.   Both Ragan and Whitney trained here and were Lafayette Ballet Company dancers, as well as student teachers.  In addition to teaching at LCD, Mrs. Whitney taught at LaGrange Academy and Mrs. Ragan taught at St. Marks Preschool.  These two experienced teachers will be working side-by-side with LCD/LBC Artistic Director, Amy Orr.

Mr. Waverly Lucas, Co-Artistic Director of Ballethnic Dance Company in Atlanta will also continue to serve on our LCD faculty, as well as Katie Cain, who will be teaching exciting jazz and tap classes for various levels.  Jeanne Deitrich will also be returning as company faculty, Ballet Mistress, and costumer extraordinaire.  We are also excited to announce that Brandon Penn, Fellowship Dancer with the Atlanta Ballet, will be teaching Company Jazz and Contemporary (and another class TBA). Brandon was one of our guest artists in Lafayette Ballet’s Sleeping Beauty.  He guest taught for our company dancers in late March and received rave reviews for his challenging class and energetic approach.
Full faculty bios are coming soon to the staff page.
