Whitney Hunt Humphries began dance training at LaGrange Ballet (now known as Lafayette Ballet/Lafayette Center for Dance) at the age of 9. She studied under Nancy Thuesen Gell and Amy Carter Orr. She attended several summer intensives and studied under guest teachers such as Lowell Smith from the Dance Theatre of Harlem. Whitney also attended the Atlanta Ballet’s Summer Intensive at Georgia College and State University. While dancing in the company Whitney danced roles such as Dewdrop and Snow Queen in the Nutcracker and the title role in Cinderella. During her high school years she was blessed to be able to travel with the company and experience ballet classes in different studios in New York City. She first found her love for teaching in the Assistant Teacher Program at LaGrange Ballet and has loved teaching since. Whitney graduated from Columbus State University with a B.A. in Biology and Secondary Education. She taught Middle and Upper school science at LaGrange Academy from 2010 through 2013 when her youngest child was born. She is married to Jacob Humphries and they have two children, Oaklie and Asher. Oaklie is five and takes ballet from LCD. She already loves dance and Whitney prays that she will always praise her Savior in dance.
