Amy McDow has spent her life submerged in artistic communities, surrounded by visual and performing artists.  Her passion for the arts is evident through her career as a professional photographer, designer, and artist, as well as through her extensive work advocating art education, promoting individual artists, and providing artistic opportunities for local areas.

In addition to her profession in visual art, Amy has embraced performing arts through the theatre, with roles including producer, director, writer, stage manager, actress, and publicist.  The positive impact of theatre on her daughters inspired her to develop more opportunities for local youth to experience all that the theatrical arts have to offer.

While coordinating the development of the Lafayette Theatre Academy into a year-round program, Amy was able see students rewarded by the self-confidence, creativity, team-work, and many other benefits that come with participation in the theatre.  During the 2015-2016 year, LTA worked with over 50 students and gained media attention throughout Georgia and Alabama when their production of I Never Saw Another Butterfly was presented at Atlanta’s Breman Jewish Heritage and Holocaust Museum for their membership, including Holocaust survivors and their families.
